A WREXHAM bakery has been praised for its success just one month after its highly-awaited grand opening.

Former chef Jason Rogers opened the 'Moonbakes' bakery on Crane Street, Cefn Mawr, last month after he became determined to turn his dream into a reality.

After leaving his full-time career as a chef for over 25-years and venturing into the wedding photography industry, Jason soon realised his true passion will always be food and baking.

Relocating to the Cefn community, Jason discovered a gap in the market for a homely and friendly business that serves delicious bakes with a twist.

He said: "My main goals were to get locals talking about a new business in Cefn Mawr which used to be a really busy village.

"From day one I've been super busy with locals and customers from further afield in the surrounding Wrexham area.

"The Cefn community made me feel very welcome. Everyone who comes in mentions how glad they are that Moonbakes has opened and they always have time for a chat.

"Customer feedback has been excellent, both verbally and on social media, including 5-star reviews on Google.

"The best thing about owning a cake shop is cake for breakfast every morning."

Despite wanting to keep classic favourites on the menu, Jason has been experimenting in the kitchen and has since added unique bakes to his menu.

A new item is the 'Croisswich', a mix between a sandwich and croissant with various savoury fillings, vegan blueberry and lemon drizzle cakes, gluten-free cranberry, coffee and Kahlua cake and Italian raspberry meringue tarts.

One customer described the bakery as "out of this world", another said "always goes down a treat in our house" while one person said "the business is an amazing addition to Cefn."

Jason says he is keen to continue improving the appearance of Moonbakes with the goal to eventually be able to seat people outside in the warmer months.
