A WREXHAM Lager employee is taking on 'Dry January' this month in order to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.

The challenge sees participants aim to complete 31 days without drinking any alcohol for a total reset of the body and mind.

From better sleep and a mental health boost, to saving money and time - there's a whole lot to gain this Dry January and Joss Roberts aims to go one step further by raising funds for Nightingale House Hospice.

Joss - a sales manager for Wrexham Lager - has managed to raise £500 on the first day of the fundraising page going live (which you can donate to here) - and the total now stands at over £650 (correct at time of writing).

He said that working at the brewery will present an even 'harder' challenge when it comes to staying alcohol free this month.

Joss said: "Life is full of all types of challenges. The truth is last year was the toughest of my life. For anyone who’s been through or going through a tough time, I absolutely hold my arms out to you.

"So, to start 2024 on a positive note, I’m taking on Dry January and I’m doing it to raise money for Nightingale House Hospice."

He added: "My mother worked at this hospice for 16 years so I’ve seen first hand the efforts their employees give to provide end of life care and so much more. Every penny is vital to fund their operation.

"Taking on dry January may not seem the biggest challenge to some, but working in and around a brewery makes it a lot harder, especially with the nature of the job.

"If you can support me in aiding Nightingale in any way, even if it’s a pound, it will be massively appreciated.

"I wish you the best 2024 and my inbox is always open to anyone for a chat or a catch up for a (0%) pint. Thank you."
