READERS have been getting in touch to tell us what they think after new ticket machines were installed at a Wrexham car park.

The Island Green car park has become infamous in recent times for people receiving fines, when in many cases, they feel they have been wrongly given one.

The issue has grown to the point where businesses say they are missing out on customers as people are too afraid to park there.

Wilko and Asda Living have both closed their stores there recently, and local MS' Lesley Griffiths and Ken Skates have been trying to address the parking issue with Euro Car Parks, who are in charge of parking.

But, problems are persisting there, with drivers saying they are being wrongly fined due to the ticketing machine not working properly.

Last week, the Leader confirmed that new ticket machines had been installed at the car park.

The Leader:

PIC: One of the new ticket machines at Island Green car park, Wrexham.

Wrexham MP Sarah Atherton said she was 'extremely pleased' by the new machines, adding that the old ones had been 'particularly difficult' for elderly residents to be able to read instructions from.

Lesley Griffiths MS added that although she was 'unaware of the upgrades', the new machines were 'a welcome development' to the site.

But, what did our readers think of the announcement? Here's what just some of you had to say on the matter.

Jan Austin told us: "Not parked there for years, don’t trust it, we go to Broughton."

Thel Roberts said: "I’ll never park there ever again. The company owning it have ruined Island Green!"

Trevor Jones added: "Unfortunately the damage has already been done by Euro CarParks while they run the Island Green site. I'll not park there."

Gaynor Whittall added: "I just wouldn’t park there. That parking company is killing Island Green, it’s disgusting."

Colin Dobie wrote: "Haven't parked there for years and don't intend to start now either. Wouldn't trust that company one inch."

However, others did not seem to have a problem with the ticket machines at Island Green.

David Jones said: "I’ve been parking there for years and have had no issues with the machines. The new ones are easier to use and lately there has been someone there to help people use the new machines."

Joanne Dodd told us: "I’ve had no issues. The new machines are even easier to use. You put in your first 4 digits and the rest comes up. You just have to press confirm."

Penny Sutton wrote: "I've parked there 3 times over the past couple of months and haven't had any problems. The new machines are much easier to use."

Jean Williams added: "I went yesterday having avoided going there for months! Lovely guy called Evan working there showed me how to use the new machine! Simple. Will go back to parking there now."

Delyth Jones said: "Used a new machine on Thursday by Iceland and as soon as I started putting the registration in it came up as mine. It was simple to use. Hopefully, they'll change all the others."

Euro CarParks has so far declined to comment on any matter put forward by the Leader about the Island Green site.
