AN APPEAL for witnesses has been launched after a man died in a crash outside Llangollen last night (December 2).

North Wales Police say they were called to the incident, which took place near the Sun Trevor, at 6.38pm.

The crash involved a car and a motorbike and led to the death of a man, officers added.

Paramedics, NWP officers and Roads Crime Unit staff were at the scene and the road was closed until 2.20am this morning (December 3).

NWP are now appealing for witnesses - in particular the driver of a 'white panel van' - who may be able to help them by providing information.

A statement from them read: "Officers investigating a road traffic collision in which a man sadly died are appealing for witnesses.

"We were called at 6.38pm last night (Saturday 2nd December) by colleagues at WAST to reports of a RTC involving a car and a motorbike on the A539 near the Sun Trevor, outside Llangollen."

The statement added: "Local officers and Roads Crime Unit colleagues attended alongside paramedics, but sadly the motorcyclist passed away. The road was closed until approximately 2.20am.

"The man’s next of kin and the local Coroner’s Office have been informed."

PC Jo Roberts of the Roads Crime Unit added: “We are appealing for any witnesses, especially those with dashcam to contact us either via our live webchat or on 101. We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white panel van, who may have witnessed the incident.”
