A FLINTSHIRE farmer and son are being celebrated for their talent after being promoted to the final of the British Farming Awards.

Matthew and David Roberts, two farmers from Ty Draw Farm in Flintshire, have been made 'Sheep Farmer Finalists' in the 'British Farming Awards' 2023.

The aim for the father and son duo is to ensure their business remains sustainable in the long term and reducing costs by growing better grasses along with red clover leys to produce better quality silage.

Their farm grows over 79 acres of red clover used for harvesting and grazing. This has reduced additional feed related costs as the lambs are able to eat from the bales produced.

Matthew and David have also been able to cut their fertiliser costs as a result of establishing red clover on the farm.

60 of the UK's most innovative farmers made the cut when the 2023 finalists for the British Farming Awards were announced in August.

Now in its 11th year, the British Farming Awards is the industry’s leading event showcasing hundreds of British food and drink producers undertaking fantastic work across the sector.
