WREXHAM AFC's co-owner has described the community of the town-turned-city as having 'the heart of a poet but the fist of a warrior' in an epic series of Tweets.

The story of the club's takeover by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney is currently being told through the 'Welcome To Wrexham' documentary series.

Released two epsiodes at a time every Thursday via Disney Plus, it also takes a closer look at those in the community who have backed the club for a number of years.

Following the latest episodes (five and six) being released last week, Rob took to Twitter to tell viewers they would 'fall in love' with Wrexham as a whole after watching them.

The It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star wrote: "When you watch episodes 5 & 6 of Welcome To Wrexham, you'll fall in love. The town has the heart of a poet but the fist of a warrior."

He added: "You will see yourselves in them. You will feel their struggle and their pain. But you will also recognize their beauty and their perseverance.

"They are like every working class community on Earth: Marginalized, forgotten about, under-appreciated. And yet still they wake up every single day and get the job done."

Rob closed the series of heart-felt Tweets by saying: "Up THIS town and EVERY town on EVERY continent of the globe, who does the same."

Since completing their takeover in early 2021, both Rob and Ryan have fully immersed themselves into Wrexham, its community and the football world as a whole.

They have regularly turned up at the club's Racecourse ground too, with their last appearance coming in the 5-0 win over Maidstone United last month.
