Gareth Bale and the rest of the Welsh squad showed their support for the Stadium for the North campaign as it enters its final week.

The campaign, which is aiming to bring international sport back to the Racecourse Ground, was launched on May 9 and was spearheaded by Mickey Thomas and Malcolm Allen.

The stadium plans, which would see a new 5,500 seater stand built at the KOP end are part of a 'Wrexham Gateway' bid that is set to be launched by Wrexham Council next month.

A petition was set up in an attempt to secure as many signatures as possible ahead of the application being made.

It is hoped the significant number of signatures will contribute to a potential successful bid.

As it stands, there have been 13,144 signatures, with the target being 15,000 ahead of the closing of the Change.org campaign this Friday (June 17).

John Hartson had shown his support through a video message on social media and during Wales' recent Nations League campaign, Gareth Bale and the Welsh squad also showed they were backing the idea.

The squad, who had qualified for Wales' first World Cup since 1958 a few days before, donned shirts supporting the campaign during their warm up.

While Malcolm Allen urged anyone and everyone to take the time to sign the petition in support of the bid.
