A dessert restaurant in Mold has commemorated it's first birthday with a celebration attended by Mold's mayor.

Waffle Box specialises unsuprisingly in sweet and savoury waffles however boasts an extensive menu of beer, wine, cocktails, hot chocolate and milkshakes alongside it.

The restaurant, which is base on King Street, opened one year ago on Wednesday (June 8).

Owner Lynsey Jones said: I am super proud of our little waffle box, a modest 30 seats that boy do I now wish was 50!!".

To celebrate she gave away a complimentary glass of fizz alongside ever order.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Mold Councillor Haydn Jones, he said: "This is a milestone indeed through the covid recovery".

The restaurant has been a hit across Flintshre recently scoring the number #1 restaurant and cafe spot in Mold according to TripAdvisor and scoring 5 status in EHO ratings. 

Reviewers descibred the restaurant as "out of this world" and "a must visit".

During the jubilee celebrations the restaurant dontated £1 from every sale of their special Schwaffle and Coronation Chicken Waffle to  Disasters Emergency Committee. 

In a facebook post they commented: "As we celebrate our very fortunate British Heritage, there will be those much less fortunate than us who have been forced to flee their homes and country."

Those attending Mold Food Festival on the 17th and 18th of September will be able to enjoy the savoury treats as the venue confirms it will be participating.

Owner Lynsey Jones said: "Mold has proved to be the absolute right choice for our first location and I feel very blessed to be part of the independent traders community."

For summer Waffle Box will be launching a new Bubble Tea range as well as becoming part of the Flintshire Eats App.
