IF YOU'RE still looking for plans with friends and family this early May bank holiday weekend, there are a host of restaurants in Wrexham that might be worth visiting.

Following several new restaurants and eateries opening across Wrexham, the Leader thought to compile a list of the best reviewed places to eat.

The Bank wine Bar and Bistro, High Street - Kicking off with a 5-star rating from 338 reviews, this small plates restaurant is a firm favourite among locals. Attentive staff and delicious food.

Lisbon Tapas Restaurant, Church Street - Yet another 5-star rating from 157 reviews. After being reviewed by national treasure food critic Jay Rayner, it's no wonder this place is so popular.

The Nags Head, Mount Street - The pub in the city centre is holding onto third place on the list six months after its entry. It received a 4.5/5 rating from 594 reviews.

The Boat Inn, Erbistok - A traditional British pub with all the classics. This pub is highly praised for its Sunday roasts in particular giving it a 4.5/5 rating from 471 reviews.

The Golden Lion, Rossett - The pub situated between Wrexham and Chester is up one place from last year. Another highly-rated place to eat with 4.5 stars from a massive 1,182 reviews. 

The Dog and Pickle, Lavister - Formerly the Nags Head, the popular pub underwent a rebrand last year but the Tripadvisor ratings remain high. 4.5/5 from 510 reviews. 

Levant Kitchen & Bar, Chester Street - With over 210 reviews and a 4.5/5 star rating, this European-themed restaurant was awarded the Travellers' Choice 2023 award. One customer said "The Levant team make magic."
