A POPULAR YouTube personality has visited Wrexham on a special mission!

'Rate My Takeaway' is a favourite YouTube series featuring Danny Malin who visits and reviews food shops across the country.

In his latest episode titled 'Trying The King of Wings in Wales!', Danny and his cameraman visit Wrexham's Ty Pawb to try the famous chicken wings from 'Wing King' that he says all the locals are raving about.

Driving into Wrexham, Danny said: "Sign back there cameraman that says Mold. I hope there's no 'Mold' on these wings!"

After stopping to take selfies with fans in the Home Bargains carpark, Danny and his well-known 'table' make it to Wing King where he orders the Korean wings, BBQ strips and fries and the chicken burger.

Describing the wings as "absolutely gorgeous" and "spot on", Danny, originally from Yorkshire, seemed highly impressed with Wrexham's popular takeaway.

He said: "These wings, absolutely beautiful. Nice and crispy on the outside. Beautiful tangy sauce with a little bit of spice coming through. Absolutely gorgeous."

The Wing King manager Andrew Boycott said: "I only found out about the visit the day before he came down, it was all a bit nerve racking as he doesn't give much away in how it went so I had to wait a week before the video was uploaded.

"The review couldn't have come at a better time with our move coming up in June to our own restaurant.

"I'm taking a break for a week next week and then pushing on getting the new restaurant sorted and opened."

The Wing King opened in August 2022 and is moving to the former Gusto d'Italia nearby in Ty Pawb.

Danny's much-loved series has over 690,000 subscribers and over 104 million views since the channel began in June 2020.

The video documenting his trip to Wrexham has already reached over 54,000 views during the first 15 hours.

Danny's visit also generated much excitement among Wrexham residents on social media who said they were "absolutely gutted" to have missed him during his trip.

One fan of the series said "No way! Love this" while another said "Omg, this is the man I love on Youtube. He'd better have got his table out!!"
