A FLINTSHIRE man has said it is a 'dream come true' to be opening his very own sports academy in his hometown this coming weekend.

John Jones founded Ace of Sports eight years ago after an injury put an end to his own football career.

Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength offering a range of sessions to young people across north Wales and beyond.

It has also become well-known for its huge darts events - which this year included a face-off between legends Michael Van Gerwen and Phil Taylor at Chester Racecourse just last month.

John has always been keen to give back to the area he grew up in and that will take another huge step over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

That is because he and Ace of Sports will be unveiling their very own training academy and live sport venue in John's hometown of Mold on Saturday (March 30).

The 8,000 sq. ft site will include a state-of-the art 4G pitch, weights, exercise bikes and so much more.

John said: ‘’Firstly to open a state of the art facility like this in my home town of Mold, North Wales, is a dream come true. It’s going to bring so much to the community from jobs, to increasing participation in sport, to bringing the best sports people in the world to North Wales."

The full centre, located at Bromfield Commercial Park on Stephen Gray Road, will be open from mid-May, but Saturday will act as a sneak peek of what's in store.

And, if that wasn't enough, another huge darts event is also being planned by Ace of Sports for later this year at the new venue.

On Friday, July 5, Ace of Sports will be joined by the current world darts champion and world number 1 ‘’Cool Hand’’ Luke Humphries (below).

The Leader: PIC: Press Association.

And there will be a £5,000 prize for anyone who attends the event that manages to beat the champ on the night!

Tickets to that event are now available to buy here.

John said: "The Ace Of Sports darts championship has been a huge success since we launched it. The last championship with Phil Taylor and Michael Van Gerwen was a historic night.

"That will return in 2025, however we wanted to do something special before then to announce the opening of the new Ace Of Sports facility. Who better than the current world champion, world number 1 and premier league of darts leader Luke Humphries.

"What makes it even more special is this night comes with a special twist. If anyone from the audience that attends on the night can beat the World Champion Luke Humphries we will give them £5,000 cash.

"For any darts fan or amateur player this is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity and the fact that we are bringing it to Mold is something I’m very proud of."

Luke Humphries will also be bringing his World Darts Championship trophy with him for pictures on the night in Mold.

He will also be doing a live Q&A about his famous win v Luke Littler in what was so far the highest globally viewed darts match of all time.
