HOLLYWOOD star Michael Sheen has once again shown great support for the Wrexham community by donating to a local football club.

Last month, the Leader reported that the Welsh actor had donated £5,000 to the family of Louis Perrin.

Four-year-old Louis Perrin was born with a condition called TUBA1A.

As well as having epilepsy and cerebral palsy, the young Wrexham AFC fan suffers from painful leg spasms and limited mobility leading him to become dependent on a wheelchair.

Now, Sheen has shown his support for the Wrexham community once more by donating a further £5,000 to FC United of Wrexham.

Run by Andrew Ruscoe, diversity thrives at the football club, with teams ranging from under-six girls, under-eight and U13 boys, and a women's side, to men's futsal, fostering an inclusive environment that champions gender equality and youth development.

All of that though, comes at a hefty price and the club has been fundraising in order to try and raise £12,000.

The club says that the money donated by Sheen will be used towards buying kits for their under 13s and women's teams.

They have also ordered Sheen his very own FC United of Wrexham shirt as a thank you for the kind gesture.

Sheen - star of films like The Queen, the Twilight series and Midnight in Paris - shared the club's fundraiser via X (previously Twitter).

In the past, FC United of Wrexham has also received backing from Wrexham AFC owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Deadpool star Ryan even posed for a picture in one of the club's shirts, giving it a major boost on social media.

Thanks to Sheen's donation, the club is now a step closer to hitting its £12,000 fundraising target.

FC United of Wrexham say that that money is needed in order to keep on top of monthly bills, which are currently at around £700.

A statement on the GoFundMe page added: "We understand that the fundraising goal of £12,000 per year is daunting. However, even a fraction of this amount would go a long way in sustaining our operations. If you're unable to donate, we kindly ask you to share our page and help us find potential sponsors or individuals who resonate with our vision."
