A WREXHAM orchestra and choir is set to join a refugee hub to present an exhibition of music and visual art centred around stories of war and displacement.

An experience unlike any other awaits with interactive art installations and a poignant programme of music presented within an immersive cutting-edge setting by NEW Sinfonia, and United to Assist Refugees UK.

The concert will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 6:30pm in a disused shopping unit at Eagles Meadow in Wrexham which is being turned into an exhibition and concert space.

Tickets can be purchased here.

In the run up to the concert the refugee hub will be holding an exhibition curated by members of the Hub which will include interactive activities, guided tours, awareness workshops, craft sessions and a café and shop.

The exhibition is free to attend and will open on, Thursday, April 4, and Friday, April 5, from 2-7pm.

Refugee Hub leader Jane Townend said: "We hope to take this project to other cities to spark conversations and raise awareness whilst providing a platform for people who have fled their home country to express themselves both as human beings and to share their experiences.

"Through sharing art and music we can come together to find common ground and learn about one another."

This spring marks one year since NEW Sinfonia’s first project with UareUK and two years since the invasion of Ukraine and the start of the ongoing war.

This concert is being presented as a call to and for humanity.

Co-Artistic Director Robert Guy said: "This project will be unlike anything we’ve ever done before."

Members of the hub will be joining the all-inclusive vocal ensemble NEW Voices which will feature alongside players from NEW Sinfonia and guest soloist Ukrainian soprano Khrystyna Makar to perform a programme of music centred around tales of displacement and interspersed with the poems and stories from refugees.

The project will raise awareness of the realities of being a refugee today in the UK, raise funds to support UareUK, and bring a poignant programme of high-quality music to our audiences.

Robert continues: "NEW Sinfonia and UareUK have a track record of working together for the benefit of everyone, particularly those who are most vulnerable in our home.

"We are proud to provide a platform for people who have fled war and persecution, and give everyone a chance to connect through music."
