THE FUNERAL details for a much-loved owner of a Wrexham business have been confirmed.

Carl Blythen died aged 65 years old on February 29, following a battle with cancer.

He was best known for having run the Rock and Soul Suite on Hill Street.

Mr Blythen ran the popular business alongside his wife Julie, who he married this time last year.

He had run the business since it opened in 2013 and it had played host to many great live bands, top tribute acts and DJ's during that time.

A funeral will be held at the Crematorium at Pentrebychan on Tuesday, March 12 from 3.30pm, with guests asked to arrive at 3.20pm if possible.

The funeral car's will be leaving the Rock and Soul Suite at 3pm and the wake will be held straight after the funeral at Mr Blythen's business.

A statement from the Rock and Soul Suite read: "This will be a sad day but also a celebration of Carl's life and love of his family, friends and of course his love of music. He loved making people dance and seeing them happy.

"Let's give Carl the best send off that we can, as I'm sure Carl will be watching."

Mr Bythen's wife Julie added: "I just want to say thank you for all the flowers , cards with heartfelt messages, texts and showing me just how much you love my Carl and me.

"It’s beautiful that you all took time to let me know how much you care. Carl will know too."

Hundreds of tributes were left to Mr Blythen and the family underneath the Rock and Roll Suite's Facebook post.

Kevin Anderson said: "He was someone special, a proper character always had a smile on his face."

Mike Simister added: "Gutted and so sorry to hear this. Thoughts and condolences to you Julie x. You brought a lot of joy to a lot of people Carl, will miss you matey. Life is full of meetings and partings, glad I had the fortuity to meet you."

Peter Barrett wrote: "Absolutely gutted with this news. I loved my time working at The Rock and Soul Suite.

"We had some great fun and Carl was always good company as were you Julie. He will be greatly missed."

The Rock and Soul Suite has remained open for business since Mr Blythen's passing as, those who know him best say that's 'what Carl would have wanted'.
