WORTHWHILE causes in Wrexham have thanked members of the community for their fundraising efforts over the Christmas period.

A fundraiser, set up by Turf landlord Wayne Jones, collected over £11,000 for 21 charities in the Wrexham area.

Wayne vowed to donate one full weeks 'Butty Van' sales to local charities and members of the community also donated to the cause to raise the substantial sum.

Now, some of the charities and organisations who are set to benefit from that money have thanked people for their support.

Among those set to receive a share of the donations made are Wrexham Foodbank, Yellow and Blue Hub, eating disorder charity 'Beat' and cat rescue charity Candy and Tibby Trust.

Paying tribute to the Wrexham community, Wrexham Foodbank said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to Wayne for making a donation to our food bank and to the community for getting behind this great cause and making it possible."

The Candy and Tibby Trust added: "Huge thank you to Wayne Jones of The Turf Pub and The Turf Butty van for your generous donation.

"Thank you to everyone that donated to help Wayne support 21 different organisations throughout our local Community here in Wrexham."

As part of the fundraising efforts, fans also had the chance to buy tickets for a raffle offering a signed Ryan Reynolds picture.
