AN alarm will sound at a chemical plant in Flintshire next week as a test with residents reminded that no action needs to be taken.

The Alyn Works site in Mold, housing chemical firms Synthite and TS Resins, is testing its emergency alarm next week on Tuesday, January 9, as part of a procedure required under safety legislation.

It will sound at 2pm from the site on Denbigh Road.

The time has been chosen to minimise inconvenience to residents.

The alarm is a wavering tone lasting about 30 seconds, immediately followed by a flat continuous tone also lasting about 30 seconds that will signal an ‘all clear’.

No action will need to be taken.

Health and safety legislation, called the Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) regulations, requires companies storing certain chemicals to carry out regular alarm checks as part of their off-site emergency procedures.
