WREXHAM COUNCIL has paid tribute to its 'fantastic' School Crossing Patrol teams to mark the service's 70th birthday.

First introduced in 1953, the service has now provided seven decades worth of local lollipop ladies and men helping children get to school safely.

In Wrexham, the council manages 15 School Crossing Patrols (SCPs), and they are responsible for the safe crossing of both children and pedestrians at the start and end of the school day.

If you’ve lived in Wrexham for a while you will probably have got to know a few of your SCPs.
