WREXHAM'S two teenage blacksmiths have recreated the iconic Gresford Colliery wheel ahead of the anniversary of the disaster at the pit.

Ollie and Harvey Roberts, known as Britain's youngest blacksmiths, have designed a miniature version of the wheel to go on display at Gresford Colliery Sports & Social Club.

Tomorrow (Friday, September 22)  marks the 89th anniversary of the Gresford Colliery disaster - whereby 266 miners tragically lost their lives in an explosion.

In 1982, a memorial to the victims of the disaster was created using a wheel from the old pit-head winding gear.
