The Leader:

Your Space, based in Llay, Wrexham, began as a pilot activity and social club for children and young people aged 8-19 who were on the Autistic Spectrum. It became a registered charity in 2013.

The activities are held at different locations in Wrexham County Borough but are mainly based at the Resource Centre in Llay, Wrexham, with additional community activities within the wider geographical area in North East Wales and North Shropshire.

Activities run throughout the year outside school hours providing young people with high quality, engaging sports, social and arts activities as after school and holiday clubs.

For the families, the charity delivers monthly activities that the whole family can join such as Family Swim Night, Sibling Sundays and Family Days Out.

The Family Outreach Team also offers parents and carers support, advice, along with guidance. Your Space is able to run counselling sessions with highly a trained in-house counsellor.

As a charity, they rely on volunteers to help run sessions along with helping to provide the best level of service for young people and families whilst also ensuring that funders will get the best value for money from its services.

All of the volunteers receive the same level of training as the staff and have an excellent record of progression from volunteers to the staff team, some of whom are autistic themselves.
