IT WAS a very warm welcome for two businesses taking over units in a Flintshire shopping centre.

Buckley Mayor Cllr Charles Cordery was on hand in the Buckley precinct to cut the ribbons and declare each shop officially open.

First up was Glamour House, which has moved into the centre from its original Padeswood Road location in the town.

The womenswear retailer is run by Kate Jones, who has already seen plenty of new faces through the doors.

The 39-year-old said: "We've always been busy, and have a good client base. We're looking forward to welcoming customers old and new.

"Ultimately we want to cater for women of all ages and sizes but at affordable prices."

And it's a family affair, as Kate's mum, Gay Smith and daughter Mia Jones are both involved.

Kate and Gay, who battled breast cancer earlier this year, choose the stock together, making sure they cover a range of styles to suit various tastes.

As well as casual-wear, spacious Glamour House has upped the glam, and is now also home to occasion-wear suitable for weddings and the races, an a selection of accessories.

Another new addition to the shop is hairdresser John William, who is running a salon space at Glamour House.

Having worked in Buckley for the last five years, the 35-year-old from Chester is looking forward to developing the new stylish set up with Kate.

Next door is Shazs Shabby Chic, which initially started in the town four years ago as part of a pop-up shop.

Owned and run by Sharon Beck, the store offers personalised and artisan gifts, foods and jewellery. It is also home to Shelby's Place, a community interest project.

Shelby's Place provides children's messy play and workshops, as well as hosting groups such as knit and natter. Another new addition is the attached wellness centre.

Sharon, who has a background as a carer, said: "The wellness centre has counsellors for both children and adults, we will offer therapists and treatments such as reiki. It's a place for people to feel safe, be social and offer a sense of community."

Both Kate and Sharon are excited about what's next but are equally as supportive for each other's venture as they are for their own.

Welcoming both business to the precinct, Mayor Cllr Cordery added: "It's been quite a transformation since Kate took her unit on to make it special, and it is a bold step for Sharon to branch out into different things.

"These are two vibrant businesses, right next door to each other, that enhance the precinct, and that I hope the people of Buckley will support."
