American rock band, Kings of Leon is coming to Wrexham this Bank Holiday weekend to perform two concerts.

The multi-award-winning band will take to the stage at the Racecourse Ground, made famous by the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned Wrexham AFC, for two shows on Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28.

They will be joined by much-loved Wrexham band Declan Swans and Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones' new band Far From Saints.

To prepare for this weekend's exciting gigs, here is an extensive round-up of all you need to know from road closures to if there are any tickets left.

Kings of Leon Wrexham concert tickets

At the time of publication, there were still a small number of tickets remaining to both King's of Leon's concerts in Wrexham

The remaining tickets varied from seated to standing with most of them being re-sales.

Tickets ranged in price from £63.58 to £176.92.

King of Leon concert times

The Kings of Leon concert at the Racecourse in Wrexham is scheduled to start at around 7.30pm. 

Gates to the show are set to open at 5pm, while early gates will open at 4pm for the Wrexham Lager Stand car park food and drinks village. 

The event's curfew is 10.30pm.

The Racecourse floodlights will remain on until 1am to allow the clean-up process to take place following the concerts.

Road Closures for Kings of Leon concert in Wrexham

There are set to be a number of road closures and traffic management measures put in place over the weekend to protect concert goers.

Full closures

The following roads will be fully closed on both Saturday and Sunday for the Kings of Leon concerts at the Racecourse:

  • Crispin Lane between 1pm and midnight
  • One way of Mold Road between 1pm and 9.45pm (inbound)
  • Full Closure of Mold Road and Regent Street between 9.45pm and midnight

Other roads affected as part of the closures will include: 

  • Grosvenor Road
  • Bradley Road
  • Regent Street
  • Stansty Road (under the bridge)
  • All traffic from Glyndwr University will exit on to Plas Coch Rbt
  • All traffic left from Plas Coch School into Stansty Chain Road
  • Crispin Lane will be closed at the access to the back of the stadium.

Traffic Management

  • The approaches to B&Q Roundabout will be reduced to two lanes from Plas Coch Road
  • Central Road will be down to one lane
  • A section of the ‘closed’ carriageway on Mold Road will be coned off for Bus/Coach/ drop off. 

Motorists are also being urged to monitor traffic at J4 and A525.

Residents will also have to access the roads opposite the Racecourse via the Town Centre.

Park and Ride service for Kings of Leon concert at the Racecourse

A park and ride service will be in place for Kings of Leons shows on both Saturday and Sunday.

Park and ride places are available to book for £5 via the Wrexham AFC eTicketing website and will remain on sale until 9am on Saturday, May 27.

All places must be pre-booked. 

Two car parks are available where the park and ride service will operate to and from:

  • Wrexham Central Estate Office, Ruthin Road (LL13 7TU)
  • Ysgol Clywedog (LL13 7UB)

Access will be available from 1.30pm, with the first coach departing for the Racecourse Ground at 1.45pm.

Temperatures are excepted to be around from about 18C to 14C during the scheduled time for Kings of Leons Saturday concert. 

The forecast in Wrexham on Sunday, May 28 is sunny intervals and a gentle breeze with highs of 18C.

Temperatures are expected to range from 16C to 12C during the scheduled time of Sunday's Kings of Leon Concert at the Racecourse.
