WREXHAM AFC's co-chairmen were delighted as the women's side clinched promotion to the Genero Adran Premier yesterday (April 16).

Steven Dale's side, who won the northern title, faced off against Briton Ferry Llansawel at Newtown AFC on Sunday afternoon.

A place in the Premier Division was at stake and a Rebecca Pritchard goal was enough to win it for the Reds, who secured their promotion.

It means Wrexham women's side will look forward to clashes with the likes of Cardiff City, Swansea and TNS next season.

Rob McElehenney and Ryan Reynolds both took to social media to give their thoughts on the promotion.

The Always Sunny star said: "ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. CONGRATULATIONS @WrexhamAFCWomen."

The Deadpool star echoed his co-chairman's thoughts by adding: "Wow. Wow. Wow. PROMOTION!!!!! So proud of this club!!!!!"

The Hollywood pair were in town for the record-breaking game held at the Racecourse last month, where over 9,500 fans watched the Reds beat Connah's Quay 2-1.

Rob, Ryan and all Wrexham fans will be hoping that it is not the only promotion they will be celebrating this season.
