THE MAYOR'S charity concert has raised over £1,400 for initiatives in the area.

Mayor Councillor Haydn Jones and his Consort Liz Jones were delighted to welcome everyone who came and supported the event which was held at Ysgol Bryn Coch last week (March 24).

The evening was a resounding success and raised over £1,400 for the Mayoral appeal which this year supports Mold Community Hospital League of Friends, Mold Alex Football Club and North Wales Bowel Cancer Support Group.

The evening’s entertainment was headlined by Côr Rhuthun and musical director, Robat Arwyn.

Since its creation in 1981, Côr Rhuthun has developed into one of Wales’ most popular mixed choirs.

Also performing on the evening was mezzo-soprano, Sioned Terry who has enjoyed a varied career as a singer and musician alike on platforms throughout the UK, including at the Royal Albert Hall.

The evening was hosted by former headteacher at Ysgol Bryn Gwalia and Ysgol Glanrafron, Elwyn Roberts.

Reflecting on what was an evening to remember, Mayor Cllr Jones said: "Thanks to Côr Rhuthun and their conductor Robat Arwyn for a varied programme of songs. Soloists Sioned Terry and Trystan Lewis and their accompanist Tim Stuart for their wonderful musical performances and to Elwyn Roberts for his excellent presenting skills.

"A truly wonderful evening which was no doubt a musical feast."
