CONCERNS have been raised over offensive graffiti symbols which have appeared in Wrexham.

The Wrexham Litter Pickers team says it was 'really concerned' to find a number of Swastikas - synonymous with the Nazis - at various locations.

The group of volunteer litter pickers work hard to keep streets, green spaces and rivers in Wrexham free from pollution.

However, they say they are concerned about the Swastikas - which they claim have been around since November 2022.

The group says it has reported the incidents to Wrexham Council, but has not yet contacted North Wales Police about the matter - hoping that the council would act first to clean them up.

They claim that some of the graffiti has now been cleared, but some remains.

The Swastikas are said to have been spotted at various locations including Caia Park and Queensway in Wrexham.

A statement from the group read: "Really concerning to see the swastika sprayed around Caia Park at the minute. Been reporting them to the council for removal."

Pictures shared with the Leader show the symbol spray-painted onto walls and even a lamp post in the area.

North Wales Police issued a separate statement on graffiti just last month, with several addresses falling victim to the crime in Ruabon.

There were similar occurrences back in 2020 too when 'mindless' vandals spray-painted swastikas onto cars and properties in the Ponciau area of Wrexham.

Commenting on the latest bout of graffiti, a spokesperson for Wrexham Council said: "We have sent staff to the area to clean/paint over the graffiti and will monitor the area for any repeat offences.”
