WREXHAM AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds has thanked fans who travelled all the way from his home country to witness Wrexham's latest FA Cup win in person.

The Deadpool actor, who hails from Vancouver in Canada, took over as co-chairman in early 2021 alongside friend and fellow actor Rob McElhenney.

Since then, the club's popularity has reached unprecedented heights with the Welcome to Wrexham documentary only boosting its profile further overseas.

This was showcased once more over the weekend as 57 members of the Wrexham Canada club made their way - most of them from Canada and some from other parts of the UK - to the Racecourse to witness the Reds' 4-1 FA Cup win over Farnborough.

And they were given a 'kind welcome' by the Wrexham faithful upon their arrival.

The Wrexham Canada club took to Twitter to write: "We want to thank the people of Wrexham who we met throughout the day for the kind welcome. We’ll be back soon! It was great to be at a game where we got to cheer goals and shout “Wrexham Wrexham” with the fans. Also thanks to the club for their support."

Responding to that Tweet, Ryan wrote: "Thank you for making the journey to Y Cae Ras!"

The supporters club then visited the Turf pub, which lies in the shadow of the Racecourse ground, after the match.

There, they enjoyed some drinks with some locals and one fan even managed to bag himself a Wrexham shirt!

Wrexham Canada added: "When I said friendly people in Wrexham I meant treating us like we are neighbours! Here’s an example! Fellow Canadian Myles came into The Turf wearing a Montreal Canadiens Top and left wearing a Wrexham Jersey! If you see this other guy in Wrexham he’s now a hockey fan".

On the same day as their visit, further history was made by Canada in footballing terms as Alphonso Davies became the first Canadian player to score at a men's World Cup tournament.

Unfortunately though, they eventually went on to lose 4-1 to Croatia in Qatar.
