A WREXHAM pub has raised an incredible £1,063.01 for the Nightingale House Hospice through their pub quiz.

The Nags Head in Wrexham collect the quiz takings, which are then calculated every four months and handed to the hospice.

This quarter has seen the pub raise over £1,000 having previously raised over £560, and £800 respectively.

The quiz is held every Thursday at 8pm with the £1 quiz entry fee being donated to Nightingale House with customers even donating more to help the cause.

Nightingale House Hospice relies on the generosity of the local community with only 20% of its income coming from statutory sources.

When asked why the pub selected Nightingale House Hospice as their chosen charity, pub landlord Chris Harland said: “For one, they have to raise all their own money and also, everyone in Wrexham and in the surrounding areas will have or know someone who has used them at one point or another.

“My Nana was in rest bite at the back end of her life, and she was really looked after so I know how hard these guys work every day, rain or shine, and they have to raise the money to keep that standard up. There’s plenty of charities we could have donated to but the most popular one which our customers wanted to do was Nightingale House.”
