WATER Babies North Wales is offering free taster sessions in a bid to encourage more families to introduce their babies to water at the earliest opportunity.

The sessions will be available at the following venues:

  • Monday, October 3 at 9.30am at Leonard Cheshire, Colwyn Bay - suitable for babies from birth up to approximately 10 months
  • Wednesday, October 5 at 10.30am at Plas Madoc, Wrexham - suitable for babies 12 weeks old/12lbs up to approximately 10 months
  • Friday, October 7 at 4pm at Ysgol Pen Coch, Flint - suitable for babies from birth up to approximately 10 months

Claire Edwards from Water Babies North Wales said: “A lot of people ring up and ask about it (Water Babies), and they’re not sure what it involves and things like that, so we thought we’d do a number of free taster sessions within our North Wales area and try to get people involved and see what their children will get out of it.

“It’s a life skill. We recommend that babies do start from birth, the younger they are when they start, they’ll never get a fear of the water. As they get older, they become more aware of their surroundings and that’s when they become scared of things.

Clare added that the service offered at Water Babies is not solely aimed at babies, as it can also be an education for parents.

“We’re teaching the parents how to teach their little ones, mums, dads, and grandparents can get in the pool too. It’s also about giving them the confidence to do water-based activities with their baby.”
