A Wrexham filmmaker will be watching the Ryan Reynolds movie Green Lantern 100 times on loop, or until he’s told to stop by the Wrexham AFC co-chairmen in a unique performance arts project.

‘WRob WRyan, WRing Me!’, the exhibition by Wrexham production company 73 Degree Films, will see Robert Corcoran, the founder, spend just over eight days watching the film on a loop if he doesn’t receive the call from either Ryan Reynolds or Rob McElhenney.

The exhibition coincides with the release of the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ on Disney+ and is a unique way for the creator to celebrate the town (or city), while Robert also explores his feelings around the release.

Robert explained that as an artist and filmmaker from Wrexham, he has spent a lot of his life reflecting on how to improve Wrexham’s depiction in media, and the documentary could be a turning point not just in Wales, but around the world.

The exhibition begins on Sunday (August 28) where Robert will eat and sleep at Star Café in the centre of Wrexham (12 Yorke Street).

Anyone can watch through the window at any point and it will also be live-streamed.

On the docuseries, and his subsequent project, Robert said: “It feels a little bit like we're inside a reality TV show. So I thought it would be interesting to create our own version of a Wrexham reality show and have some fun with it! 'At the same time as the world is watching Wrexham, I will be in Wrexham, watching Ryan Reynolds...and you can watch me, watching.'

“That's the concept and I hope people enjoy it. I also hope Rob and Ryan see it and give me a call, because a full 8 days of Green Lantern does sound like a lot.

“We've really tried to involve the community too, working with local businesses and people to help put this together. Throughout the exhibition we're inviting people to send things to the room and I'll add them into a video.

“We're also inviting people to pick up one of our leaflets, write down what they love about Wrexham, and post it through the door.

“Then I'll react to it in a video too! Recently I've been going around local chip shops and people seemed to enjoy me rating them, so this is a nice continuation of that really.”
