A FLINTSHIRE ice cream manufacturer has launched a new creative writing competition in partnership with Theatre Clywd.

Chilly Cow Ice Cream’s new scheme is offering a VIP theatre experience alongside Theatr Clwyd to watch the new Famous Five musical which opens September 23.

The competition invites children between the ages of 6 and 14 to write an adventure story of up to 500 words for the Famous Five characters, George, Julian, Anne, Dick, and Timmy the Dog – and must also include Chilly Cow Ice Cream somewhere in the story.

It has also been revealed that local chef, Bryn Williams and his wife Sharleen Spiteri, singer for band Texas, will be participating on the judging panel as they both live locally to Chilly Cow and promote the arts for children.

Sharleen said: “"The art of storytelling has formed history, hopes, dreams and folklore, without it we are a grain of sand that can disappear oh so easily. We must always work hard to keep the writing alive and relevant to the generations to come!"

Anna Taylor Director of Chilly Cow said “We are so proud to be able to support Theatr Clwyd with our Corporate Membership after they have supported us for so long as a supplier. We want to promote the arts and theatre to young people from all walks of life, to showcase the value that comes from a theatre experience and what better way than getting the children exploring their own creativity with our competition. We hope that our support helps Theatr Clwyd in their new development and expansion and we are excited to be involved in their journey”.
