'WHY WREXHAM?' - The North Wales football club's Hollywood owners have now revealed just some of the much-anticipated answers to that question in today's Leader.

The whole town of Wrexham has been buzzing since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds completed their takeover of Wrexham AFC in February 2021.

Their ownership of the club has sparked global admiration for the Reds and the town, with fans coming in from as far as Canada to visit the Racecourse ground.

Ahead of the final day of the National League season on Sunday, May 15 - which saw The Reds travel to Dagenham and Redbridge - the owners sent an advert into the Leader.

In it, they reveal just some of the reasons why they decided to, not only, back the football club but the whole town too.

The Leader:

PIC: The Racecourse has been the place to be this season.

The advert in today's Leader by the pair reads:

"Why Wrexham?"

It's the question we've gotten more than any other.

We're writing this advert after our incredible 3-0 win against Stockport County. The Leader requires we submit by May 1 Ith. Thus, we have no idea what will have happened by the time you read this.

Yet whether it's win, lose or draw, if it's promotion or playoff, one question has been resoundingly answered.

Why Wrexham?

Because you deserve it.

For 158 years of fearless devotion.

For building a club and a community the world should know about.

For weathering storms that would have broken lesser towns.

For your cheers, your courage, your traditions, your warmth.

And because a little over a year ago, you took a chance on two Hollywood jokers who knew precious little about Wales or football.

Thank you, Wrexham. Our first full season has ended. Bring on the next 158.

Both Rob and Ryan have been vocal in their admiration of Wrexham AFC supporters over the past few weeks.

The Racecourse ground enjoyed its biggest ever National League crowd when the club beat promotion rivals Stockport County 3-0 on Sunday, May 8.

Rob hailed the club's devoted supporters as the 'beating heart of this club'.

Meanwhile, Ryan - who last visited the ground during the Reds' FA Trophy semi-final win over Stockport - said the support for the club is 'like nothing else'.
