For all the budding Agatha Christies just waiting to unleash a trapped whodunnit, there is now the perfect opportunity.

The Mold Bookshop and Aura Libraries have teamed up to host a series of crime writing events.

The first will take place at Mold Library, from 7pm, on May 18, when Wrexham-based author Simon McCleave will be talking about his new book based on the Isle of Anglesey, The Dark Tide.

Simon is a million selling British crime novelist. His first book, The Snowdonia Killings, was released in January 2020 and has sold more than 200,000 copies. His seven subsequent novels in the DI Ruth Hunter crime thriller series, have all been bestsellers.

He has just signed a deal with publishing giants Harper Collins to write a new crime series based on the Isle of Anglesey.

Originally born in South London, after leaving university, Simon worked in television and film development. He was a script editor at the BBC and a producer at Channel 4 before working as a story analyst in Los Angeles.

He then became a script writer for television and film. He wrote on series such as Silent Witness, Murder In Suburbia, Teachers, Attachments, The Bill, EastEnders and many more.

Simon now lives in North Wales with his wife and two children.

"We are also pleased to announce that another bestselling author, Clare MacKintosh, has agreed to be our guest in July."

Susannah Hill, library manager, expressed her excitement on behalf of the whole Aura team.

She added: “We are very excited to be hosting these events at Mold Library and to be delivering a programme of events across Flintshire at various Aura libraries in partnership with Mold Book Shop.

"Author events are always very exciting for us and we hope that everyone in attendance enjoys the evening.”
