A man is running the length of Britain to raise funds for an NHS Charity as a thanks for the lifesaving treatment he received.

Fraser Evans had emergency surgery three years ago at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital and has since made a full recovery and is now ready to say thanks by running the total length of Britain to raise money for Awyr Las Gogledd Cymru.

The money will help fund added extras which the NHS in North Wales cannot provide through the charity.

The Lands’ End to John O'Groats Virtual Challenge, which he has been completing from 3 May 2021 and will end 2 May 2022 covers a whopping 874 miles.

Fraser explains on his fundraising page: “Three years ago I underwent emergency surgery at Wrexham Maelor hospital. This along with excellent nursing care undoubtedly saved my life.

“Now back to full strength I am aiming to raise as much money as I can for the bowel ward by running the length of Britain in a virtual challenge.

“Therefore, I have chosen Awyr Las Gogledd Cymru - Blue Sky North Wales charity, to show my appreciation for the amazing care and hard work I received during my most challenging time.”

Fraser said: “I’m so grateful to all the special people who have already supported me in one way or another, there’s too many to mention here but they all know who they are. ‘Even a toot of the car horn and a thumbs-up’ while I’m out clocking up the miles is enough to spur me on towards my end goal.”
