THIS is the moment Wrexham AFC legend Gareth Davies was told he will be going to Wembley as a guest of hounour.

The former Reds skipper made over 500 appearances for the club between 1967 and 1983.

Sadly, the 72-year-old's health has declined - leaving him wheelchair-dependant and living in a Wrexham care home.

As Wrexham get set for their Wembley appearance for the FA Trophy Final in May, a recent social media campaign to #GetGarethToWembley has been backed by the club's star co-owner Ryan Reynolds

He tweeted over the weekend: “Rob and I will make sure Gareth makes it to Wembley in comfort. He showed up for @Wrexham_AFC and we’ll show up for him. #GarethIsGoingToWembley”.

The Leader:

Gareth's daughter, Kate, broke the news to the man himself and filmed his reaction as a thank you all those who had shown their support for the campaign.

The clip, which has been liked more than 1,600 times, begins with Kate telling him: "They all want you to go as guest of honour at Wembley. Everybody wants you to go."

Gareth, who was visibly moved by the news, modestly says: "Why did he (Ryan Reynolds) want me to go then?" to which his daughter responds: "Because you're a legend - a Wrexham legend. I'll show you all the comments soon."
