A campaign to get a Wrexham AFC legend battling with dementia to Wembley for the FA Trophy final has caught the attention of co-owner and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.

Gareth Davies was a central defender who made an impressive 490 appearances for the club in his 16- year career, which also saw him with three Wales caps.

In recent years Gareth’s health has sadly declined and following Wrexham AFC’s win against Stockport County which has seen them in the FA Trophy Final, a bid was launched to get the 72-year-old to Wembley to see the match against Bromley as a Guest of Honour.

The Tweet read: “Rob and I will make sure Gareth makes it to Wembley in comfort. He showed up for @Wrexham_AFC and we’ll show up for him. #GarethIsGoingToWembley”

The campaign, which also had the Reds striker Ollie Palmer working to help, and its own hashtag #GetGarethToWembley has proven successful.
