A FLINTSHIRE group has been busy knitting beautiful jumpers, cardigans, hats, gloves and knee blankets for a Mold community centre to distribute.

The colourful hand-made items are in a range of sizes suitable for all ages and have been donated to the Parkfields Community Centre.

Caffi Isa Charity Knitters group meets every Monday morning at Caffi Isa, Mynydd Isa. Members knit a huge variety of attractive items, from tiny clothes for premature babies to intricately patterned jumpers for adults.

In the past some of the items have been sent abroad through local charity Share. At the moment most of the knitted items are being distributed to local UK charities and hospitals that need them, including Wrexham Maelor.

Gill Norris, centre manager at Parkfields said: “The very generous donation of knitted items for children and adults from Caffi Isa Charity Knitters group, have been welcomed by Parkfields Community Centre to donate to the local community”.

Rhiannon Southall, group leader of the knitters added, “We are always looking for outlets for our knitting from organisations which need the items and are delighted to support the work being done at Parkfields.

“We are just completing a batch of twiddle muffs for people with dementia and would like to hear from any organisations that would find them useful. They can be comforting for people with dementia to hold. Some of our wool is donated and we also fund raise to buy wool.”
