FIRE chiefs have confirmed why a car 'exploded' at a retail car park in Wrexham.
The Leader reported on Friday how emergency services were called to Central Retail Park.
Eye-witnesses said the vehicle involved, an Audi, had 'exploded' - which could reportedly be heard across the town.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service classified the incident as accidental, but a spokesman has now confirmed the cause was "aerosol use in a confined space, ignited with a lit cigarette."
Sergeant David Smith, of North Wales Police, said: "The incident is an isolated accident and I would like to assure the community that there is nothing to be concerned about.
"Fortunately no persons were injured and have been checked by ambulance staff as a precaution.”
