A MUCH improved second half performance saw Wrexham beat St Mirren Colts 4-1 to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Challenge Cup.

Wrexham, made up of senior pros and youth team players, were all-square at half-time against the young Buddies but Devonte Redmond, two-goal Leighton McIntosh and Ben Tollitt struck after the interval as the Reds came through their fourth round tie at The Racecourse.

Here's how the players rated.

ROB LAINTON: A huge boost to have him back and pulled off some vital saves as well as commanding his penalty area. 7

DOUG THARME: Captain-for-the-day and centre-half Tharme had to get accustomed to playing at right-back. 6

MAX CLEWORTH: Impressed in the last round and another competent showing from the young scholar. 6

MICHAEL CHAMBERS: Some shocking passes in the first half went astray, much better after the break. 6

BOBBY BEAUMONT: Did a good job defensively playing out of position and going forward on his first senior start. 6

MATTHEW JONES: Handed a first team debut and very composed performance at the base of the midfield diamond. 7

AKIL WRIGHT: Wrexham were below par first half and Wright came more into the game in the second period. 6

DEVONTE REDMOND: Took his goal well to give Wrexham the ideal start to the second half. 6

BEN TOLLITT: Not in the game first half but had a hand in three goals and got one himself after the restart. 7

LEIGHTON MCINTOSH: Back in the side and responded with two goals - including a penalty!! 7

JAKE BICKERSTAFF: Worked hard without making the same impact as in the previous round. 6

KYLE ROBINSON-MURRAY: One or two nice touches following introduction. 5

CALUM HUXLEY: Came on in injury time. 4
