WREXHAM ended a run of eight games without a National League win by beating fellow strugglers Ebbsfleet United 1-0 to climb out of the relegation zone.

Substitute Paul Rutherford's stunning second half strike secured three points at The Racecourse in Wrexham's first game since manager Bryan Hughes' departure.

Hughes was sacked on Wednesday following the poor start to the season and his assistant, Brian Flynn, who enjoyed a successful 12 year spell as Reds boss, began his two-game stint in temporary charge on a winning note.
