GRAHAM BARROW wants to do well in the FA Trophy but he is focussed on picking points up until Wrexham return to cup action.

The Reds, who won the competition on the club's first ever appearance at Wembley Stadium in March 2013, beat Boston United 3-0 on Saturday and the reward is a home tie against National League title rivals Leyton Orient in the second round on Saturday January 12.

Leaders Orient sit four points ahead of fourth placed Wrexham, who have a game in hand on the three sides above them.

Wrexham have five games in 15 days over the festive period and interim manager Barrow is concentrating on the league until going head to head with Orient for a place in the third round.

"It is a home tie and that is the main thing with the travelling that you have to do in this league," said Barrow.

"It is a cup competition and we will see what happens on the day.

"It is not insignificant but we will look at that when the time comes."

Wrexham's unbeaten home run was ended when the sides met at The Racecourse on November 24, missed chances proving costly for the Reds as Orient scored two late goals to win 2-0.

Barrow, who rotated the squad for the first round tie with Boston, admits it is a game that fans will look forward.

"It is an exciting game for everyone after playing them recently," said Barrow.

"It was a good game, there's no doubt about that, but there is so much going on before then.

"We will put that to one side and concentrate on what is coming up."

Wrexham exited the FA Cup after losing last week's second round replay at Newport County and Barrow admits the Trophy is being taken seriously.

"I think it becomes a priority now," said Barrow.

"There is nothing wrong going down to Wembley for a final, I would take that any day."

Wrexham begin the hectic festive period with Saturday's trip to Aldershot Town followed by a home game against high-flying Salford City on Boxing Day and another Racecourse clash with Solihull Moors on December 29.

The return fixture with Salford takes place on New Year's Day and Wrexham are back at home on January 5 with Dover Athletic the visitors.

Barrow is relishing the games and although he insists they won't make or break Wrexham's season, he knows a healthy points return could be significant.

"It is a busy period but the fixtures have been kind, we are not doing much travelling after the Aldershot game," added Barrow.

"It is a tough period but something we are looking forward to.

"Big games and big crowds, it is what you are in the game for.

"People do say a lot gets decided at this time of the season but I am not totally convinced, there is still a lot of football to be played after this period.

"What I will say is you can make a mark or make a point, and that is what we will be trying to do."
