THE WREXHAM midfielders answered the call and Sam Ricketts now wants his strikers to start finding the back of the net again.

Ricketts was eager to see his midfield men contribute goals after a barren start to the season and Luke Young, Luke Summerfield and Brad Walker have all scored at least once since the start of October while Akil Wright has also got off the mark.

Although Rekeil Pyke and Stuart Beavon have both struck once this month, the Reds' frontmen are going through a barren run and Ricketts would love to see his attackers back among the goals.

"The beauty is we haven't got one player to rely on or two players that only score all our goals," said Ricketts. "We share them around.

"The first 10-15 games it was all forwards and no midfielders, now it is all midfielders - it was only Rekeil the other week at home.

"It will spring around again and when the forwards start scoring as well, it is the midfielders job to make sure they continue scoring as well.

"We called out the midfielders asking them to score so we can call out the forwards now saying are you going to start scoring again?"

Ricketts also believes he is due more goals from captain Shaun Pearson, who has two to his name this term, and his fellow defenders.

"Shaun has got two and he is a threat when he goes forward," said Ricketts.

"It has been long enough, we have had 20 games and he has only scored two; he is normally good for five or six over the course of a season so he is due one.

"Manny has got one already this year, he forced an own goal and it was given to him but it was an own goal at Eastleigh.

"We have got defenders who when they come forward they look to score goals or they expect to score goals, which is a big difference.

"They are more bonus goals as such if anything, although set-pieces are very important, but it is important everyone chips in."
