ROB LAINTON has joined Wrexham on a permanent deal from Port Vale.

The 29-year-old initially signed for the Reds on a season-long loan deal from the League Two club in July but the Reds have taken over the goalkeeper's contract until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

An ever present this season, Lainton has kept 14 clean sheets in 23 league and cup games and he is delighted to commit his immediate future to Wrexham.

“I’m delighted to make it a certainty that I can stay at Wrexham until the end of the season," said Lainton.

"I’ve enjoyed every minute and this deal means I can carry on with the job I have started and can’t be re-called for whatever reason.

“Everyone has been fantastic with me from day one. The lads, the manager, the coaching staff, everyone that works here behind the scenes and the supporters.

“I have really enjoyed it. We have done really well so far and I’m really happy to have played my part in a fantastic start to the season and reaching the second round of the FA Cup.”
