WREXHAM boss Sam Ricketts has won the National League manager of the month award for October.

Former Wales international Ricketts, appointed Wrexham manager in May, led his side to a six game unbeaten run during the month.

In four league matches during October, Wrexham won three against Havant and Waterlooville (1-0), Dagenham and Redbridge (2-1) and Hartlepool United (1-0), and also drew 1-1 at Chesterfield who scored an injury time equaliser.

Wrexham also progressed to the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in four seasons, winning 2-0 against Harrogate Town in a replay after the first meeting finished 1-1.

Ricketts has also seen his side move to the top of the National League after starting November with a 3-1 home victory over Gateshead.

Director Spencer Harris told the official club website: "Manager of the month is great recognition for Sam and his staff.

"It is a fitting award that recognises the hard work that goes on behind the scenes with the players.

"We have made an excellent start to the season and wish Sam, the staff and players every success for the remainder of the campaign."
