FORMER Wrexham midfielder Leo Smith has signed for Caernarfon Town.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who came through the youth ranks at The Racecourse, returns to the Welsh Premier League club after spending the second half of last season on loan at The Oval.
Smith was not offered a new deal by Wrexham boss Bryan Hughes at the end of the 2018-19 campaign and although he was invited back for pre-season training, has moved on to pastures new.
Smith endured a frustrating two years at Wrexham since making the breakthrough during the 2016-17 campaign when he signed his first professional contract and scooped the Young Player of the Season award.
But he only made seven appearances the following season, the last of which came as a late substitute in the 2-2 draw with Leyton Orient on October 28, 2017, and did not play a single game for Wrexham last term, spending time on loan at Llandudno and Caernarfon.
