MARK CARRINGTON admits Wrexham feel "unbeatable" on current form and he still believes the Reds can clinch a top three finish.

Wrexham go into today's game against Halifax Town on the back of a 1-0 home victory over Sutton on Good Friday that extended Bryan Hughes' side's winning run to three National League games.

With just two matches to go, Wrexham in fourth position sit six points behind leaders Leyton Orient, who boast a superior goal difference, but the Reds are only four behind second placed Salford and three adrift of Solihull, the team sitting third.

Wrexham have already booked a play-off spot and cannot finish lower than fifth, meaning Hughes' men are guaranteed a preliminary round home tie.

But vice-captain Carrington insists the Reds can still finish second or third - the other four teams in the top five play each other today - so they advance straight to a home semi-final match.

"Halifax is always a difficult place to go," said Carrington. "They are very organised and good at what they do.

"But we're on a good run and we feel unbeatable at the moment so hopefully we can take that in and notch another one off.

"We are not looking at anyone else, we are just doing our thing and hopefully that is enough to take us where we want to go.

"It just builds the momentum going into the play-offs.

"Of course we can still finish second or third - that has got to be the aim.

"We have got to try and get that and if we don't, it is good that we have got a home tie in the first game of the play-offs. Our home record is superb."

Wrexham struggled to break Sutton down but Kieran Kennedy's 78th minute strike sealed three points and a club record equalling 26th clean sheet of the season, but first shut-out in five games which full-back Carrington was delighted with.

"We have been trying to get that clean sheet back," said Carrington.

"We have been unlucky the last few weeks not to get it but we did it on Friday. We dug in well and it was just a case of grinding it out."

Hughes admits Wrexham can't win the title but he is focussed on trying to catch Salford and Solihull.

"We can't catch Orient now because of the goal-difference but the next milestone is second or third," said Hughes. "It will be a great achievement if we do that.

"The goal difference is going to be one that we have got to look at.

"We have got to keep doing what we are doing and hopefully someone will slip up.

"The other teams have got to play each other today so there are a few tough games going around."

But although Solihull host Orient and Salford entertain fifth placed Fylde this afternoon, Hughes stressed the need for Wrexham to take care of their own business and make sure they leave Halifax with three points.

"We have got a tough game at Halifax, we can't take that for granted," added Hughes.

"We have got to be professional and go there and try and win the game, and we will see where we are Monday night.

"We can't rely on anyone else, it is about what we do.

"If teams keep winning around us, that is their prerogative.

"We can only do what we are doing and I am just pleased that we are winning; we are going into the play-offs in good form at the moment."
