WREXHAM versus Chesterfield. At last a game that sounds like a real football match!

No disrespect to Havant and Waterlooville, Boreham Wood or Salford City but The Reds v The Spireites has a bit of history to it.

Both teams have fallen on hard times. Wrexham have been kicking around in non-league circles for far too long while this is Chesterfield’s first season outside the Football League.

Just over 20 years ago, these two teams were going head to head for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Chesterfield won 1-0 that day in what turned out to be Bryan Hughes’ last ever match as a Wrexham player.

Now he’s back as the boss with a familiar face from that fateful day at Saltergate, standing right beside him.

Brian Flynn was in charge then but now he’s Hughes’ right hand man and excited by the role he’s going to play in what could be a promotion campaign at The Racecourse.

Three points tomorrow would certainly help that cause and I think Wrexham will sneak it it 2-1.
