MOLD A continue to keep the pressure on North East Wales League Division One leaders Flint Phoenix A following an 8-0 whitewash of Deeside.

In the pick of the action, Deeside's Laura Parry and Cerys Brackenbury pushed Jo Thomas and Lily Hird all the way at first ladies before losing 19/21, 21/18, 21/14.

The victory means Mold are 24 points adrift of leaders Flint Phoenix A with a game in-hand, while at the other end, Phoenix B are on the bring of relegation.

Flint's second string were beaten 6-2 by Denbigh A, despite an impressive performance at first men's from Phil Roberts and Alex Graham, who defeated Iain Lovatt and Steve Aylott 21/12, 21/13.

In Division Two, Hawarden got the better of hosts Llanferres B with visiting player Dave Blenkley adjudged player of the match.

Blenkley and Andy Steel, however, were beaten at second men's by Mikey Parr and Howard Robinson, who won 21/9, 21/11.

Prestatyn A clinched promotion from Division Three with a resounding 7-1 home win over Mold C, who were a player short.

Amongst the Prestatyn winners were Sonia Penlington and Caitlin Dolan, who combined at first ladies to overcome Gill Evans and Ros Hoo 21/17, 21/19.

Flint C prevented Prestatyn C from joining their senior team in the winners enclosure as they recorded a 6-2 away win.

Gemma Browne and Ro Spencer, playing together at second ladies, were amongst the Flint winners as they overcame Gina Harris and Sheila Blackwell 21/12, 14/21, 28/26.

The league's presentation evening takes place on April 17 at Mold Alex Football Club.
