‘A GOOD point at a bad time’ was Holywell Town manager John Haseldin’s verdict on his side’s goalless draw at Guilsfield.

With the club’s league future still in the balance, the Wellmen had targeted a crucial victory in mid-Wales to ease their relegation concerns.

But their survival battle will now go to the wire, after their stalemate in Powys left them needing victory on the final weekend to remain in the division.

Haseldin said: “It was probably a good point at perhaps a bad time.

“I know we can play better as well but I’m pleased that we didn’t lose and the players got a point for the determination they showed.

“They stuck to their task and created chances but we will have to settle with a point going into next week’s game.

“Everyone worked their socks off, especially the front two, the midfield boys put themselves about, the defenders defended for their lives when the ball come in and when all of that failed, Platty did job and he did it superbly.

“I would like to thank all the Wellmen faithful who travelled in their numbers today, unbelievable effort once again and proud to know you are right behind us now more than ever.”

Damian Ketley and Mark Winslade looked dangerous up front for the visitors, while Guilsfield also had chances with goalkeeper Mike Platt called into action to keep the game goalless at half time.

Platt was in fine form after the break too and produced a smart stop to thwart Danny Barton, before Guils keeper Mike Jones was also on hand to save chances from Jamie McCall and Jack Pennington.

Flint Town United came from behind against visitors Prestatyn Town to triumph 2-1 and secure a second-placed finish.

Aaron White gave Prestatyn the lead after eight minutes when he headed past Silkmen keeper Aaron Jones.

But parity was restored on 34 minutes when the prolific Mark Cadwallader rose highest to head home Jake Hampson’s delivery.

An evenly-contested second half followed, but it was the hosts who found a cutting edge in front of goal with Hampson’s 75th minute diving header sealing victory.

Delighted Flint boss Niall McGuinness took to social media to hail his side’s solid campaign.

He wrote: “Well that’s it for another season. Proud of every player for their efforts this season - they gave everything to @FlintTownFC.

“Fell short in the end but no doubt this is just the beginning, plenty more to come from this group of players.”

A crisis-hit season for Bangor City ended in a lively 2-2 draw at Powys side Llanrhaeadr YM, with the clubs finishing fourth and 12th in the league standings respectively.
