MANCHESTER CITY maybe chasing the quadruple but Flint Mountain are on course to go one better.

The North East Wales League leaders need one more to win to clinch the title and on Saturday they’re involved in the first of four finals - a President’s Cup encounter against Mold Town United at Mold Alex’s Alyn Park (2pm kick off).

Victory would set them up nicely for their other showpiece finals in the Horace Wynne Cup, the Premier Cup and the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy.

No wonder the team’s manager, Rob Marshall, said ‘he couldn’t be happier’ with his team heading into the clash with Mold.

“Everything has gone so well this season,” said Marshall. “We’re chasing five trophies and we’ve only dropped two points in the league all season.

“We need two more points to make sure of the title and then we’ll go into the Welsh National League next season. I couldn’t be happier with the way things have gone.

“The North East Wales League has been good for us and for a few other teams too as you look what Plas Madoc and Cefn Albion have achieved.”

The team, who will move from their Northop Hall ground to Halkyn’s Pant Newydd pitch next season, come up against a Mold Town side, who have chased Mountain in the title race this season.

“They’ve got better as the season’s gone on,” added Marshall. “But are players are full of confidence and we’re looking forward to the final.”

Acton, who could still snatch the title away if Flint implode, are in North East Wales League action at home to Connah’s Quay U18s - the only team who have take a point off the leaders all season.

Penyffordd Lions host Airbus Youth and Bradley Park go to Brymbo Victoria.
