PREMIER DIVISION title-favourites Corwen slammed Saltney Town 5-0 as they chase silverware in the Welsh National League, writes Phil Jones.

Man of the match Dominic Doherty broke the deadlock on 20 minutes with a curling shot from the edge of the box.

Sam Henry’s superbly struck free-kick made it two before Eilir Edwards, Dale Davies and an own goal completed the rout.

Brymbo lost ground and were held to a 1-1 draw at Rhos Aelwyd who took a first half lead through Dafydd Robertson,

Jake Clarke’s penalty earned Brymbo a point.

Penycae almost pulled off the result of the day but narrowly went down 4-3 at home against FC Nomads.

Jack Abrahams marked his Penycae debut with a hat-trick but still finished on the losing side.

Manager Ben Heath said: “The result was difficult to take and after we got ourselves in a commanding position we just switched off.”

Nomads manager Steve Hughes said: “We were second best first half and they wanted it more than us. The second half was completely a different story and we showed great character to dominate.”

Goals from Charley Robertson, Danny Sullivan, Kyle Reid and Ben Howarth sealed Nomads’ win.

In Division One, Plas Madoc blasted their way past hosts Rhosllanerchrugog. Skipper Nicky Williams bagged two goals with Jamie Williams and Liam Sklenar also scoring in a 4-0 victory.

Coedpoeth and Castell Alun Colts drew 2-2 as the Colts twice let slip the lead with efforts from Stuart Williams and Ed Brown. Kevin Breeze’s penalty and substitute Luke Hall’s effort earned Coedpoeth a point.

Sam Wainwright gave New Brighton Villa an early led against Mynydd Isa Spartans and James Beck fired a winner in a 2-1 victory.

Rhydymwyn were sunk 2-0 at home by Overton who netted through Harry Massey and Louis Williams.

Cefn Mawr Rangers slumped to a 4-1 reversal against Llangollen Town for whom Josh Langford, Ben Reeley and Sam Giles (2) scored.

In the Reserves Division, Buckley Town were 4-1 winners against Castell Alun for whom Kevin Valentine replied.

FC Nomads floored Mold Alex 4-2 courtesy of strikes from Jake Jones (2), Dave Gleave and Cameron Gardner. Kal Lavelle and Alan Bunclarke replied.

Queens Park narrowly went down 2-1 at home against Ruthin Town for whom Tom Watkin-Jones scored.

In the Reserves and Colts Division, Brymbo returned to winning ways to defeat New Brighton Villa 4-1.

Cefn Albion shared a 2-2 draw with Rhydymwyn as goals from Tom Miller and Jay Bluck were wiped out by Andy Jones and Charlie Bradley.

Ruthin Town floored Cefn Mawr Rangers 7-1 and their marksmen were Owen Cordiner (3), Rob Hughes (2), Huw Sadler and Chris Evans.
