SHOTTON STEEL warmed up for tomorrow's North East Wales FA Veterans Cup semi-final by going top of the league.

The Steelmen host Ruthin Town a week after beating Connah's Quay Nomads in the North East Wales League.

David Johnson, Paul Whittaker, Lee Cousins and Tommy O’Neill go the goals with Gareth Sumner replying for Nomads, who face a trip to Rhyl in tomorrow's other last four clash.

There are three league games on Sunday with Buckley Town hosting Caerwys, Halkyn head to Gresford and Pandy while Penmaenmawr Phoenix face Rhewl.

In the Chester Veterans League West Division, Blacon Youth beat FC Vaults Vets 7-2 with Mike Ryan hitting a hat-trick. Neal Birch, Chris Larsen, Simon Saunders and Josh Jones also scored with Ian McCann and Robb O’Keefe hitting back.
